about

Seann sgeulachd mu dheidhinn eun ann an eunadan.

Beauty can't be captured and love can't be bought.

lyrics

Smeòrach a' ghlinn'
Cho ceòlmhor 's cho grinn
Le òran as binn'
Fo na neòil
Anmoch is tràth
A' ceilear le gràdh
An doir' air a lìonadh
Le cheòl.

O gach meangan fo bhlàth
'S o bheanntan gu h-àrd
A' drùidheadh tron iarmailt
Gu tlàth
Eunlaith nan speur
An cò-sheirm gu lèir
A' togail an fhuinn
Le bàidh

Hill iù, hill o hill eile
Hill iù, hill o, na h-eòin
Hill iù, hill o, hill eile
Hilli o hi o, h-eòin.

Chuala fiùran deas òg
An t-isean gun sgleò
Dhrùidh e air anam
Mar cheò.
Le briathran bha blàth
Rinn e thàladh le gràdh
Gu sheòmar fo sgàil
Nan ròs.

"Ceòl àlainn cho binn
Bidh e agam dhomh fhìn
Bheir e aoibhneas dom chrìdh
A' ghnàth."
Ach le sgiathan gun saors'
'S gun chòisir nan craobh
Chrìon a spiorad 's a shaoghal
Gach là.

Cò a cheannsaicheas ceòl?
Cò ni grèim air na neòil?
Cò chumas strian
Air gràs?
Leig an t-òigear mu sgaoil
A phrìosanach gaoil
Thog am mulad ’s am bròn
Air ball.

'S dhìrich guthan an t-slèibh
Gu siùbhlach dhan speur
Mar theudan cruit-chiùil
An t-sèist.
Mar ghathan na grèin'
San òr-mhadainn rèidh
An ribheidean milis
Air ghleus.

Mavis of the glen
Sweet and full of music
With the most beautiful song
In the sky
Late and early
Chirruping happily
Filling the woods with music

From each flowering branch
From the high mountains
Warmly penetrating
The skies
Birds of the heavens
Singing their songs
In beautiful harmony

A handsome young man
Heard the bird
It touched his soul
Like mist
With warm love poetry
He enticed her
To a dwelling
Under the shade of roses

"Lovely sweet music
I have for myself
It will always bring joy
To my heart"
But without freedom to fly
Without the choir of the trees
The mavis's spirit and life
Faded each day

"Who can buy love
Who can hold the clouds
Who can keep grace?"
The young man
Released his prisoner of love
Her sorrow and sadness
Was lifted

The voices on the hillside
Rose up to the sky
The chorus like
A melodious orchestra
Like a ray of sunshine
On a calm golden morning
The sweet voices
Joined in tune
